Transfection-Optimized MEM Transfection Reagent Diluent is a serum-reduced medium based on Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), specially formulated for transfection of mammalian cells using cationic transfection reagents. It is also suitable for low-serum culture of various adherent and suspension cell lines. Routinely, serum supplementation can be reduced by up to 50% when using this medium.
Transfection-Optimized MEM contains insulin and transferrin, which effectively lower serum requirements. This medium utilizes a sodium bicarbonate buffering system (2.4 g/L) and therefore requires a 5–10% CO₂ environment to maintain physiological pH. Phenol red is included.
