TGF Family

Transforming Growth Factor (TGF) beta superfamily consists of a group of proteins that can regulate numerous biological processes, such as cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and immune response. These proteins are involved in the regulation of many developmental processes including mesoderm induction, organogenesis, and tissue homeostasis. The TGF-β superfamily includes TGF-βs, activins, inhibins, bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), and others.
