Background
POLE4 is a histone-fold protein that interacts with other histone-fold proteins to bind DNA in a sequence-independent manner. These histone-fold protein dimers combine within larger enzymatic complexes for DNA transcription, replication, and packaging.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004],catalytic activity:Deoxynucleoside triphosphate + DNA(n) = diphosphate + DNA(n+1).,function:May play a role in allowing polymerase epsilon to carry out its replication and/or repair function.,PTM:Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR.,subunit:Consists of four subunits: POLE1, POLE2, POLE3 and POLE4. Interacts with POLE3. When bound to POLE3, it can associate with polymerase epsilon p261 and p59 and form a complex.,
