Background
Delta-like protein 3 (DLL3) is a transmembrane protein that belongs to the Delta/Serrate/Lag-2 (DSL) family of Notch ligands. DLL3 is highly expressed in tumor cells and could be involved in the modification of tumor (immune) microenvironment. Neuroendocrine carcinomas are very aggressive tumors with few treatment options. DLL3 seems to be an optimal target for therapeutic intervention, as it is expressed mainly on the membrane of tumor cells with neuroendocrine origin.
